Response TCS Amsterdam Marathon after rescheduling NN Rotterdam Marathon

Today is announced that the NN Rotterdam Marathon cannot be organised this year. The event originally was planned for Sunday the 5th of April and was rescheduled to Sunday the 25th of October due to the Coronavirus. However, the organiser Golazo had to decide to reschedule the marathon to 2021. ‘’The restrictive guidelines related to COVID-19 make it impossible to organize the event in a way that traditionally fits the NN Rotterdam Marathon’’, states the organisation on their website.

This announcement logically brings up the question whether the TCS Amsterdam Marathon will take place. At this moment, the marathon in Amsterdam is still planned for Sunday the 18th of October. The decision made in Rotterdam stands apart from the choices that are being made for Amsterdam. We are in consultation with the Municipality of Amsterdam about an adjusted form of the event with limited participants. For the coming edition therefore we choose to cancel all side-events like the International Marathon Expo, the Pasta Party and various hospitality programs. For the organisation of our event the health and safety of our participants, spectators and volunteers are most important.

We will use the coming weeks to concretize our plans. We will do this in consultation with the involved institutions of the Municipality of Amsterdam. We expect to come to a decision mid-August and will inform all registered participants.

For questions about registrations we refer to the Q&A below. In case your question is not listed there, please send us a message via this link.
