Marathon runner died

It is with great regret and sadness we have to report the death of the 45-year old Frenchman Alain Rettig who died during the TCS Amsterdam Marathon on Sunday 20 October. One kilometre from the finish line the well trained marathon runner was suffered cardiac arrest. Several CPR attempts were unfortunately not successful.

Our thoughts go out to his wife, children, family and friends. We wish them all the strength they will need to deal with this terrible loss.

The organization decided in consultation with the relatives to publish this announcement no earlier than today.
